MOWA’s Membership Classifications
• Applicant must be sponsored by an active MOWA Member.
• Sponsor must provide a paragraph on the background of candidate.
• Candidates may apply for one classification only.
• All applicants upon completion of application will be directed to the Registration and complete payment for one year’s dues, and a $25.00 non-refundable application fee.
Active Membership
• Must be a resident of Michigan at time of application.
• Must produce outdoor communication (writing, broadcast, graphic art, photography, etc.) for public consumption for pay on a regular basis. Contributions to club or private newsletter does not qualify.
• Must provide evidence of having produced outdoor communication for pay for a minimum of one year.
Apprentice Membership
• Must be a resident of Michigan at time of application.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be interested in, or pursuing a course of action that would lead to a career as a communicator of the outdoors experience, i.e. outdoor recreation, natural resources, the environment, etc.
Contributing Membership
• A representative of an agency, institution, non-profit organization, conservation group, convention bureau, or other such group that generates news about the outdoors or which offers assistance in gathering such news.
Corporate Membership
• Outdoor industry professional representing an entity that creates products, materials, or intellectual properties, or offers services relating to outdoors recreation or natural resources.
